Holden's Handsome Hotrod

Leave it to the folks who provided the underpinnings for the new Pontiac GTO to design something like this.

Leave it to the folks who provided the underpinnings for the new Pontiac GTO to design something like this. GM’s Australia-based Holden division recently showed this wild EFIJY concept car at the Australian International Motor Show. The pillarless coupe’s strange name and design cues comes from the original 1953 FJ Holden, which the brand calls, “Australia’s most famous car.” The Soprano Purple concept was constructed using a Corvette chassis and showcases the latest in mechanical, electronic and material products, like touch-sensitive LCD screens and fan-cooled LED headlights. Under the hood of the 5.2-metre EFIJY is GM’s 6.0-litre LS2 V8, beefed up with a Roots-type supercharger to produce 645 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, says Holden, there are no plans for production.
